Jonathan Kozol: Disrupting the Single Story of Poverty through Art-making

  • JMU Student Success Center 738 South Mason Street Harrisonburg, VA, 22801 United States

Art-making can serve as a powerful contemplative practice for anyone. In this session co-led by Jonathan Kozol, renowned author and poverty researcher, and Aaron Bodle a JMU arts-based researcher, participants are invited to explore and rethink their own experiences with and perceptions of the persistence of poverty by making art together. This event is open to JMU students and faculty as well as members of the community interested in having a deep conversation about poverty, resource inequality, and community change. You don't have to think of yourself as an artist to participate, just arrive with an interest in poverty and an open mind.

Open to JMU students and faculty, members of the community.

Location: Student Success Center Room 1075
